Rio Tinto Dampier Salt, Port Ops and Rail Pink Shirts

As an organisation we rely heavily on fundraising and donations to operate. Having other community groups, businesses or individuals organising fundraisers on our behalf always thrills our committee. Not just because more funds are coming in to ensure continued services for locals with cancer, but also because it truly shows us that people within the community are appreciative and supportive of what we are trying to achieve.

Way back in 2018, Sarah-Jayne Morgan of Rio Tinto’s Dampier Salt organised the first Pink Shirt Fundraiser for us. This entails employees making a $50 donation to Reach Us and Rio Tinto then purchasing the pink Hi-Viz shirts for them. Fast forward to 2021 and this year not only did Dampier Salt continue with their annual Pink Shirt fundraiser but other Rio Tinto divisions were inspired to fundraise with pink shirts as well!

Darlene Munro was the driving force behind the Port Operations staff Pink Shirt Fundraiser and she even went a step further in getting the Reach Us Logo added to the pink shirts. This is a fantastic way of raising awareness of our organisation- thanks Darlene!

Rio Tinto Rail were the third division to organise a Shirt Fundraiser for 2021. Tauri Whittles was the organiser of Rail’s shirts with Reach Us being chosen as one of four charities staff could donate to. Staff at Rio Tinto Rail had the option to purchase either a pink or blue shirt.

Rio Tinto Dampier Salt, Port Operations and Rail employee donations for the Pink Shirts has raised a combined amount of $7700 for 2021.

We are so thankful to each and every person who donated to make this happen. Thanks also to Rio Tinto for matching funds raised by the Port Ops team through the Team Rio Tinto initiative. These funds will go directly to providing support for local residents battling cancer. Thankyou for helping us to help them.
