Regional & Extended Areas Cancer Help, Understanding & Support Services
Support for Pilbara people with cancer
We understand that the remote location of the Pilbara can be terribly isolating.
REACH US – Pilbara lnc. is a registered Pilbara based charity. Our mission is to provide domestic, wellbeing and complementary support services with empathy and kindness to Pilbara cancer patients and their families while undergoing treatment.
We provide services throughout the Pilbara including the towns of Dampier, Karratha, Wickham, Roebourne, Port & South Hedland, Marble Bar, Nullagine, Newman, Tom Price, Paraburdoo, Pannawonica and Onslow.
Our Story
In 2016, our founder, Stacey Hambley, was diagnosed with breast cancer and came to realise first-hand, that there were few local, ancillary support services available in the Pilbara.
Further investigation, lead to the realisation that there was little support provided to Cancer patients that lived North of Geraldton.
This was the catalyst, that drove Stacey to commit to providing patient and family support that would lead to a better future.
"Me & my wife don't have any relatives here so we felt more alone.....but from the time I contacted Reach Us, everything has changed.
All the support that we need they gave. From flights to foods to encouragements and any other supports."
"The fact my family was being supported so much in so many ways took so much stress off me I was able to focus on staying healthy and getting through my treatment and made the fact I was away from my family just that little bit easier because I knew they were ok."
"One of the difficulties for me was the lack of support services in Karratha when a girlfriend advised me about
Reach Us.
After submitting my application (which was straightforward and simple) I was delighted to hear from Jas within a short period of time informing me that I was eligible for their services."
"My husband and I travelled fortnightly for me to receive chemo and the house keeping support was greatly appreciated.
It removed so much stress from me as I just wasn’t capable of keeping up with housework while I was away and feeling so unwell after treatment."
